It is with regret Surdhwani is announcing that owing to unavoidable circumstances, Professor Joydeep Ghosh withdrew himself from the concert as well as from the UK tour 2007.

Sarathi Chatterjee will sing Khayal, thumri and bhajan in a North Indian classical vocal recital.

Born into a family of professional musicians, Sarathi is known as one of the foremost young classical vocalists of his generation in India. His father, Professor Arun Kumar Chatterjee of the Kirana Gharana, and his mother, Shefali Chatterjee, are accomplished singers. Sarathi had received his initial training from his father in “Kirana Gharana” and later from Pandits Rajan and Sajan Misra in “Benaras”Gharana. The synthesis of two Gharanas, Kirana and Benares in his style has enabled him to create a unique style of his own. But his traditional treatment of ragas has won acclaim ‘for not diluting the purity by even a fraction’. Apart from khyayal, he is also an accomplished performer in singing thumri and bhajan. Sarathi is an ‘A’ grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan and had a number of CDs released through Asian Music Circuit.

Shiv Shankar Ray will accompany him on tabla. Shiv Shankar is a highly accomplished percussionist and belongs to the Farukkabad Gharana of tabla playing. Sandip Misra will accompany them on sarangi

Surdhwani reserves the right to cancel any concert.
