Surdhwani based in Wolverhampton is a registered charity and was formed in February 1987 to promote the best of Indian Classical Music & Dance. It was registered as a limited liability company in December 2003.

It is dedicated to promoting South Asian Arts and Culture through concerts, lecture demonstrations, workshops and the like on Indian classical music and dance. It strives to achieve its aims and objectives by inviting artists of outstanding calibre from UK and abroad. It also runs a music and dance classes in vocal, tabla and Kathak dance. Besides, it also works in partnership with other organisations such as schools, colleges and universities or the like in organising tester shows called Raga & Rhythm and workshops on Indian classical music and dance.

Touring musicians forms an essential part of the organisation. It invites outstanding musicians from overseas from time to time for the benefit of the music lovers and practitioners, for the students of music and for providing inspiration to the British born musicians.

It has a membership by subscription and the membership is open to all irrespective of social, economic, religious, political or other backgrounds. It has a policy of equality of opportunity in all aspects of its activities. It is managed by a Board of Directors, who come from various professional backgrounds but are dedicated and committed volunteers.
